Proven dewatering technology, the Filter Press is broadly used throughout most industries. Its applications are not restricted or limited to the dewatering of Bio-Solids.
|
It operates effectively in many other areas where complex filtration processes, cake drying, washing and air drying techniques are required.
The filter press has been used particularly in the Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Food Industry, Power Plants and FGD, Industrial and mining applications where it has been proven to be reliable and extremely consistent. |

While basic filter press principles are generally well known, today's automation and other TEFSA filtration technology developments are not.

The Filter Press has long had an image of being large, heavy-duty piece of equipment that needed constant tending.
However, in the 1980's TEFSA recognized a need to modernize equipment design and technology to address market demands for enhanced performance, user friendly & cost-effective operation, and adaptation into a wider range of commercial and industrial applications.
|
Main areas of Filter Press technology development were:
- Moving from cast iron to steel for the construction of the frame and main components. This reduced the weight of the machines, provided greater strength and flexibility, and even made them more appealing appearance wise.
- An easy to access hydraulic system with standard 'on the shelf' components replacing the hand or manual drive end, providing cost & time requirement reductions in both process and maintenance.
- Filter plate and cloth improvements have been fundamental in the advancements made in filter press technology and performance. Heavy, inflexible, expensive cast iron plates were replaced by corrosion resistant polypropylene plates setting the foundation for the development of the innovative membrane design.
- The introduction of the Overhead Frame Construction mechanized plate movement for more rapid discharge. Example would be 250 ft³ in under 3 minutes.
- The development of auxiliary equipment and systems such as, core blowdown, cake washing and automated cloth washing systems were well received in the marketplace they are now accepted as standard equipment on most filter presses.
